Either you have to put in some kind of really unrealistic long range HP boost skill, or the repair ship has to be able to survive on the front line. While a good idea I don't think it's practical. I don't think we need more of that.Īlso, in a CV game guess who's target number one? Think DD with a CV is rough? Imagine being slow, big, and with no AA with a CV around. The result is best case the team keeps coming back to repair, but realistically all those hulking great BBs are going to camp around the repair ship on the 10 line. Obviously a repair ship isn't going to want to go anywhere near the enemy, because all it takes is one 16in shell and Kaboom. I think you've hit the nail on the head with the problems, and I don't think they're easy to overcome. You can't force a player to push up with their team or stop hugging the repair ship.Īs for historically accuracy, I think its safe to say that it really doesn't matter anymore.Īn example of a repair ship would be USS Cimarron: ![]() I can't really say anything to defend the first two points because that all depends on the player. ![]() Teammates hugging the Repair Ship instead of attacking I can see several problems with this already:Ģ. Their primary role is to provide an aura where teammates can heal their ships, like in Scenarios. ![]() The Repair Ships would probably be slow and have weak main armaments. They can help encourage the team to push forward even if they are faced with HE spam. You know how Scenarios have those repair ships that can heal you? I think they would be a good class of ship.
